My first foray into some fun Cathedral sounds Coventry didn't have a lot of AE Modular, so I didn't talk about it too much  There is some in there, but it's not in the foreground, that's for the Mellotrons. Today, I used one of the experiments that I created for Patch Challenge #14 (Mix it up) and played some sequences from my wavetable synth to move the sound into the 80's. Everything except the two sequences is from the AE Modular. EDIT: File removed from Soundcloud as now part of a Bandcamp Release
This will be carefully woven into the first installment, plus a few others, with the addition of some solos. For now, you can hear the gradual construction of the Constructions As an aside, I did discover why I could never find a picture of the classic stained glass window that's featured in the Tangerine Dream pictures from Coventry Cathedral in 1975. The reason was simple, it's actually a tapestry |

Thanks for the nice comments and likes, it's always apreciated. Listening back to this on my laptop this morning, with a coffee, made me realise just how much energy I'd placed in the audio range that doesn't really come out of a small speaker. So, if you haven't listened on something with a slightly better speaker, or even headphones, you may just discover a whole extra part of what I did (probably a bit too much, in fact) I'm currently looking to do a few more short pieces that will become something a bit bigger, and with some solos - maybe even breaking out my (gasp) guitar. Certainly, there will be lots of AE Modular in there. If useful, I can isolate those specific parts with a bit more of a description as I go along, which would make it highly relevant for here. |

I have Edifier R1280T speakers, there is surely way better out ther, but in my opinion they are quiet good. The sound is very deep, especially the bass. Quiet an amazing work good sir.  Actually I've played your track 3 times ahah

As an aside, I did discover why I could never find a picture of the classic stained glass window that's featured in the Tangerine Dream pictures from Coventry Cathedral in 1975. The reason was simple, it's actually a tapestry To make this real, I note that the third trailer for the forthcoming Ambient Waves Festival does feature the famous tapestry backdrop as used by Tangerine Dream in 1975 when they played at the Cathedral. I see that robertlanger will be at this one also, so that will be a very interesting event. Sadly, the tapestry won't be there As an side, for the first time the first 34 minutes of the audio from Tangerine Dream live at Coventry Cathedral will be available, as well as the BBC documentary featuring footage but with dubbed audio, via a massive box set due out mid-June. Lots of amazing unreleased top-quality studio and live recordings, as well as remastered albums and even some 5.1 mixes for those that enjoy them. Not cheap, but amazing for a fanboy like me |

Best price is Amazon (although it just went up £5) or Burning Shed (but factor in postage). The amount of unissued and high-quality material is stunning. The person responsible for working on the material has been talking on Facebook and, for example, the Royal Albert Hall concert from 1975 is actual stereo recordings made by the Manor Mobile.
If you don't have them already, the Esoteric Bootleg Boxes are great as well, Vol. 3 is coming out at the end of May and has 1977 and 1982 concerts. With 200+ albums, you likely already have them.

Have Bootlegs Vol 1 & 2, didn't know 3rd was coming; I've bought them more for completeness than anything else as mostly music I have but, of course, some semi-improvised stuff you won't find elsewhere exactly the same. Even took the time to notate the corrections for the track listings... I've pre-ordered the Box Set from Juno Records, not as cheap as ones you mention but I've used quite a bit over the years and been really good. Only seen them twice since then... would have been three but I wasn't well enough for The Barbican and returned my ticket. |

I hadn't been the last couple of times they played in the UK as I felt the concerts were getting too samey. I went to the Barbican as they are playing a wide range from the TD repertoire, rather than just the more recent stuff. Also the sessions CDs I've rather liked, back to improvised days. The improvised section was almost the best bit of the Barbican concert, but did drag in a couple of places. I would recommend seeing if you get chance. Hope you're feeling better now. |
