Just in case you wondered, how many plugins are included in this module, here is a list: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dBZtuBIdtgMqoRruYX-VDdDirdTQ6RD-oz-j79q-bmQ/edit?usp=sharingOne important difference from the AE TBD to the Eurorack version is, that the AE TBD is mono only. But this means that stereo plugins still work, just that their output is mixed to one channel. The other change is that the AE TBD doesn't use WIFI, but you connect it via a USB cable to your PC. This is due to the fact that WIFI would draw too much power.

Is there more info on the development environment? Will this be available to macos? It's all on GitHub. We have forked the main repo, so that we can start adding more AE specific code: github.com/aemodular/ctag-tbdGetting the dev environment up and running is a bit tricky especially on Windows. Linux and MacOS is a bit easier, but there are a lot of dependencies. Therefore we have built actions on GitHub and the easiest is to fork the repo, make a change, push and then let the GitHub action do the build for you. I'll document that over the next couple of days/weeks.

There's a sampler on the list. Would be nice to have a bit more on that and if a stand alone SD card sample player is still in development...

Sorry, was on my phone checking the list and just realized after 10min there links for everything! 😅.

There's a sampler on the list. Would be nice to have a bit more on that and if a stand alone SD card sample player is still in development... So the sampler uses a sample library which is flashed together with the firmware. The nitty gritty details are listed here: github.com/aemodular/ctag-tbd/tree/master/sample_romTBD's stock configuration reserves 5MiB of flash memory (highest 5MiB of overall 16MiB system flash) for sample rom. This corresponds to approx. 59s of sample memory (TBD operates at 44.1kHz, data format in flash is 16 bit integer). The first 1MiB of storage is dedicated to wavetable data. There are two plugins currently which make use of this data: RomplerA mono sample playback device with comprehensive functionality, which allows to playback sample sections from sample rom. Features of Rompler include: - User samples - Sample selection (CV) - Variable playback speed +/-200% (EG/LFO/CV) - Pitch / pitch modulation (EG/LFO/CV) - Play modes single-shot, loop, ping-pong, latch - Loop markers within selected samples - ADSR EG - Sine wave LFO - Amplitude modulated with EG/LFO/CV - SVF filter modulated with EG/LFO/CV - Mono / duophonic voice allocation WTOscA basic wavetable oscillator using the 1MiB of wavetable ROM at the beginning of the sample rom section. Users can create and upload their own wavetables e.g. created with waveeditonline.com/ . This oscillator makes use of the plaits wavetable oscillator implementation (again, kudos to E. Gillet!!!), but using user wavetable data from TBD's sample ROM. Features of WTOsc include: - User wavetables - Wavetable (CV) - Wavetable bank switching (not per CV as pre slower pre-calculations are required) - Z-morphing within a bank (EG, LFO, CV) - Pitch / pitch modulation (EG, LFO, CV) - ADSR EG - Amplitude modulated with EG/LFO/CV - SVF filter modulated with EG/LFO/CV

AH! Mathias (Brüssel) or visuellemusik was talking to me about this many moons ago!! is any of his stuff for TBD ported to this ? or probably ANY TBD firmwares work in this iteration? exciting news on many fronts ...

I'm guessing alot of this will be answered at the booth but is there any insight on the availability of the parts needed to make this module and the distribution to the distributors? just wondering if this is a 2021 thing or a 2022. really exciting module regardless.....

What!?!?! WoW! This is better than the Disting Eurorack module! well .... i might be just be being super optimistic on that front... so nobody quote me on that ... but it would make more sense for it having a display , which the actual TBD doesn't.. i'm imagining ( again... pie in the sky but based on that photo ) that you make up presets with plugins you want in there and can load them from the rom stuff?? it will be amazing if it can do such things ... yet still amazing even if that's not the case....

From the blog: "The module can connect to a PC running Windows, Linux, or MacOSX via a USB cable and the many parameters for each plugin can then be adjusted in real time via a web interface and stored as favourites back to the module for standalone performance."
Favourites with a s several should be ready to be used... 🤞

First of all, thanks to Robert Manzke, the inventor of the whole TBD-technology, the current code-base for all variants of TBD is identical. github.com/ctag-fh-kiel/ctag-tbdOf course there are differences in the hardware but that's handled inside the development environment so to say. The main difference is, that the AEM TBD is Mono, but you can also run stereo-plugins and decide how the channels will be summed up. You even can daisy-chain slot 1 to slot 2, so have an effect on a synth for instance. Also the AEM TBD does not support WiFi, one reason being to keep the power-consumption low, as it is typical for the AEM technology.
Once a module is flashed with the current firmware, all available plugins (instruments or effects or any combination of that) are stored inside the module.
Some of my plugins are implemented in stereo, even though they basically are still mono for a different reason: this way they can use all the MCU's power, whereas two plugins obviously have to share resources.
You can select and configure the plugins via a webinterface. Here is a video how this works with an older version of the firmware and the CTAG (Eurorack) TBD, that should give you a pretty good idea about the process:
Again, the handling and the Webinterface is identical with the AEM version. In the video you see the usage of WiFi, whereas the AEM TBD has to be connected
via USB for this task. There is a little adapter-software to enable your browser to talk to the TBD, which is available for MacOS, Linux and Windows.
Via the Webinterface you can select up to two plugins within two different slots, you can select (or of course create!) presets for the plugins and assign the controls (2*CV, 2*Pot, 2*Trigger) of the hardware-TBD to various parameters, which of course differ per plugin. It's even possible to access more than one parameter per control. The setting for this can be stored as a preset for a specific plugin.
With the latest firmware you even can store and recall combinations of plugins and presets as "favorites" (by name) via the webinterface. These favourites also can be selected directly via the AEM TBD panel and its display.
So in essence one typical workflow would be to setup a bunch of favorites via the webinterface, which on save will automatically be stored inside the TBD module and then later select and play them with the TBD inside the AEM without any further need of a computer nearby.

HURRAH! ... so not too far from my dubious speculation . plus "access (assing?) more than one parameter per control". a bit Nord Modular morph maybe? an even bigger hurrah to ALL the Roberts and Mathias and anybody else involved in bringing this to reality.. and then again to AE reality... at times like these i wish i had a "code writer" part in my brain...
