All jokes aside, glad that there is already some clarity on the issue. I'm not the biggest fan of the Spectral mode, so I'll take that downside gladly to have the more stable pitch in the original granular mode! The microcell core firmware is available that features just the first four modes of the original clouds, maybe a good midpoint solution would be to apply the pitch shift cv options to this firmware so that the five or so of us who wanted more stable pitch can have it while the bugs are getting worked out for the beat repeat and spectral modes on the more advanced super parasite firmware?

Hi all, I guess I may have found the issue and indeed I am testing in "all drone"-mode now. ALGODRONE as input, Spectral mode 8 as sound-mode, feedback and reverb send to max. Seemingly we simply went out of RAM here. Normally the compiler should put out a warning about that, which he did not. Anyways I reduced the size needed for the new variables I introduced on the stack just a bit and reduced the available heap a bit. Anyways, back to beta-testing now, I guess ;-)

I was already thinking about some kind of buffer overflow scenario given the fact that it took a while for the module to freeze after it booted.

As one of the testers, apologies we managed to miss the issue in those modes. I definitely use high feedback levels and massive reverb amounts normally but for testing - because we were trying to resolve a pitch issue and no other code should be affected - I checked it only in Mode 1 where it's easy to set up the controls to hear the pitching of the grains. Which of course is fixed by now. I believe Mathias has tracked down the problem and I'll be testing later...in all modes.

Hmmm that’s a point, maybe i was using mode 2 or 3 when the issue occurred….not sure now
Spectral clouds does on the face of it seem to be the most complex effect so maybe it’s just pushing the hardware to it’s limit!
Another thought, could be worth paying attention to the impact of the Position and Size knobs as going by the instructions they both affect the amount and size of frequency bands used in the effect. Turning them up clockwise could maybe be increasing the resource usage. The ‘feedback’ knob in this mode seems to act as a distortion effect so may not be the culprit!

Great news on the update! Thanks to everyone involved. Already having loads of fun with it Hi mrkoggs very glad to hear about that! Not sure if you read the info in previous posts, so just to make sure: sadly we found a configuration-issue which risks to freeze Cirrus when large amounts of memory are used. This especially is the case when using sound-mode 8 (Spectral Clouds) with resource demanding settings after a while of time. If you'd experience any thing of that realm a power-cycle and then quickly selecting a different mode should help. A fix for that memory-issue of the new firmware is already in Betatest...

thanks visuellemusik, I missed the last few posts. I've been avoiding the spectral mode and only really dipping my toes in at the shallow end for now anyway until the issue gets resolved. still plenty of sonic possibilities to get lost in in the mean time anyway!

**Update 13/01/22**After again a lot of development and testing, this new version is now rock solid and has even been tested by our Drone Specialist pt3r who gave it the thumbs up. Also Mathias couldn't help himself and added 2 more modes to give you even more power over pitch tracking. You can access this release via the link below. github.com/aemodular/superparasites/releases

Is this the same firmware as I tested today or was that still a beta release?

You're welcome, it's us who have to thank you guys for all the efforts in fixing the reported issues on such a short time span. I was more than happy to contribute my little part in trying to freeze the CIRRUS. To no avail it is as stable as the original firmware. I spent a very interesting afternoon listening to CIRRUS in all possible modes and configurations.

Here's a question that's been bugging me; what on earth is the Bank selecter for? What does it do when I switch between banks? I could not find any info on the wiki of the pdf (cheat)sheets, where do I find this information?

Here's a question that's been bugging me; what on earth is the Bank selecter for? What does it do when I switch between banks? I could not find any info on the wiki of the pdf (cheat)sheets, where do I find this information? long press on the bank button until flashes then you can short press to select 1 of the 4 bank leds then long press again to save into that slot . it will save the current audio buffer ( ie: what you would hear if hold is on ) AND all the settings you are currently on into whichever 1 of the 4 slots you select... these saved settings & audio loops will persist even after it’s powered down.. note: it will automatically turn HOLD on when you save so be aware of that. there is a way to get back to yr current settings even if you move to a new bank ... but i cannot off the top of my head remember,, i’ll have to look it up..

Hi pt3r , the bank functionality is explained quite good in the Supercell-Manual under "Simplified Load/Save UI: In short the 4 banks can save "samples" / the audiobuffer of the incoming signal.
You can turn off the "frozen" signal via the HOLD switch, also when you press the HOLD switch very long the signal will be reversed. That info I did not find in any docu so far, but it's in the source which immanently always is the best docu ;-)
The lenght of this is dependant on the quality which is explained in the chaper right above and in more detail here: PS: Totally agree with Matt's explanations (directly above), but was writing my answer at the same time, so now it's only meant as an add on to that.
And BTW: if HOLD is on when you are entering Pitch-Mode 3B or 3C it will be turned off, because that LED (and the underlying functionality) get's toggled when entering those modes. This might be a bit confusing at first, but I found no other suitable method to give some optical feedback when entering these kind of "Easteregg" modes...

just an addition.. saving into a bank ALSO saves the audio quality setting AND the mode that you are in at that point .. so it’s quite good if you want a quick way to toggle between certain modes when playing live or recording live ( possibly :] ) it doesn‘t actually save the knob settings, i don’t think .. i might have given the wrong impression on that..

Thank your answers much appreciated. pol can you add this to the wiki page of CIRRUS? Hi, not a page I've been dealing with, hesitant to change anything as don't have/know the module at all. I've had a look and some basic info needs adding, from the picture you can't tell which are lights/buttons knobs for instance... admin can you help? Know you've got a Cirrus!

Thank you for that rev amp. Every information on the CIRRUS we always wanted to know but were afraid to ask, as Woody Allan would say.

I just did the firmware update and it is fantastic!!! However, I noticed that the pitch knob is at the original frequency at around 3 o'clock, not 12. I think the potentiometers on several of my modules are off. I wonder if I can adjust these easily?
