I had Max's Algodrone video come up on my TV's Youtube homepage, so I watched it - it was so good I wanted to see if it was on the Module's Wiki page - it is! wiki.aemodular.com/pmwiki.php/AeManual/ALGODRONE I also found on the Wiki page a video by Tuesday Night Machines, which is a great explanation of how the module actually works. There are 2 more I haven't watched yet. I always thought the Algodrone was for drone noises, and therefore wasn't that bothered, now I would like one! The main point here is that even one of the editors can get a lot from the Wiki, . The other part of this thread is most modules have a video on their Wiki page now, but if you are aware of a good one (self promotion is allowed) please let us ( pol/ admin) know and we can add it to the Wiki. Keep synth-ing.... Pol

The algodrone is a strange beast, no video that you make for it can explain the sheer sonic range of the module, all the videos each showcase sounds but every sound I got from it are completely different from those sounds heard in the video. I feel like every preset can be so vastly manipulated that you will get a surprise whenever you boot up your system. The same thing goes for Cirus IMO.

Yep, its my favorite module for that reason: very suprising and useful at the same time. Sometimes it feels like 'browsing through samples' and you get suprised by the 'presets', but then again you can manipulate the parameters so much that you get to completely new sounds with the same preset. I think I never managed to get further than preset 20 even, because there is always one along the way that grabs my attention haha

Such complex sounds but the explanation is surprisingly simple; each of these presets contain no samples but individual mathematical functions with 3 variables that can be manipulated through the 3 pots and a pitch pot to control the speed at which values are fed into that function. A similar thing goes on in the byte beat firmware of grains except there your select two byte beat functions' via p1 and p2 from a series of predefined functions in the firmware and control the panning between the two outputs with p3. Truly interesting stuff.

Very kind of you mate! It's a class module, definitely one of my favourites. Tough to tame but capable of some seriously interesting sounds - completely agree, I don't like the name Algodrone as I don't feel that accurately portrays what it does - it's more for textural noise than drones in my opinion!
