Hi all!! As we discussed in another thread here, we might not always share our favorite patch notes enough with eachother. So I thought I'd make a dedicated post for my beloved kick patch Basics of the patch is like this, it uses an FMOS & a square wave oscillator together with a VCA, some envelopes, an attenuator and a mixer: 1) envelope -> attenuator -> FMOS pitch -> SQR oscillator pitch
2) optional: another or the same envelope -> attenuator -> FMOS mod depth FMOS + square wave out -> mixer -> VCA (with an envelope) On the FMOS, put your 'Multiplier' knob close to zero. Both the VCA & pitch envelopes should have 0 attack, and a rather short decay. Make sure the pitch env decay is way shorter than the VCA envelope. Its the pitch envelope that determines the amount of 'thump' in the kick. Tweaking the decay and the attenuation of this envelope lets you really shape the sound and 'hardness' of the kick. I like the FMOS kick most on sine wave, and of course at a low pitch. The square wave creates more of the 'dirt' on top, and can be way more 'silent' than the FMOS mixed in. You can experiment with layering other oscillators/sounds on top, to generate the 'dirt' in the kick drum. But I like to keep the FMOS as the real foundation under all the dirt. I always use this patch & variations of it to generate my kick. It is also possible to set the VCA to max to add some extra distortion and power to the kick. Example track where I used this kick patch:

Nice track and kick patch without filter! I like the squarewave into MS20 filter but gonna experiment with this a bit.
