So our beloved Benn Jordan posts this video on the current state of physical modelling an how powerful it has become
Sure it is an informative video as always and all is smooth sailing up to the point where he plays the saxophone on is keyboard and my old sax player ears go 'no way that is a saxophone it sounds like a plastic toy invented by chatgpt!' (sorry robot overlords no disrespect intended), and the whole physical modelling idea crumbles in my mind. So it is pretty obvious that some instruments are more easily modelled than others (kickdrum vs. snare) but in some cases it still sounds like utter garbage for example that 'sax' sound. So fellow instrumentalists do you think your instrument is reproduced properly in physical modelling? Sure it is easier to only have to learn one physical interface, for example the keyboard but not every intricacy of a specific instrument can be translated to the keyboard.

. I think that modelling of some instruments can be disguised better in the mix if you add a lot of filters/effects etc to give you that feeling of oh that must be a sax kind of sound but not reproduced properly no.
