I'm having a pretty great time with this. I need a better recording setup though... I also have a quantizer module in the mail right now which should keep things a little more in tune...

Very cool. I like the setup lots of sequencer options. If you had not said anything about the tuning I would have thought "whoa listen to that dissonance."

Yes! I love having sequencers everywhere. Everything gets sequenced! The biggest challenge with my setup has been getting clock and reset to everything. I've just acquired a little breadboard which will become my clock distribution supermult. I've been messing with driving the SEQ8 from the TRIQ164, too, to make it a bit more rhythmically interesting (and to let me use an 8-step sequencer for sequences longer than 8 steps-- only 8 notes available, but you can stretch out the timing in a bunch of ways). You can see that in the one I just uploaded.

Really nice groove, I enjoyed that very much - very early KlingKlang I spotted from your videos that you were playing with Eurorack a while back (and you like coffee). Do you still use the Eurorack in parallel...? |

No, I sold the Eurorack stuff-- it was super unsatisfying, and I felt like I was pouring money and effort (since I was building mostly kit modules and even with that I'd spent about $1000) into something that couldn't do very much. I have friends with elaborate Eurorack setups, and looking at theirs and then doing the mental math and realizing they'd spent over $10k on their rigs, well. I wasn't going to do that. So I sold it all off and bought a Korg Z1 and a Novation UltraNova, which take care of pretty much all my keyboardy urges. (The UltraNova is my favorite keyboard synth, bar none. The Z1 is also pretty awesome.) I've had a complicated last couple of years, though, so most of my MIDI stuff is stashed for when I move into a bigger place next year.
That's part of how I got into AE stuff-- a friend was selling his setup, and it looked small and relatively inexpensive, so I bought it and augmented his rack with the Solina and a couple of other modules... At this point I think I've spent about as much on AE stuff as I spent on Eurorack four or five years ago, and I have a MUCH more capable and flexible rig than I ever did then, and it's inspiring and fun rather than frustratingly limited.
That's probably more life story than you expected, but there you go. Glad you liked the video. 8) I'm going to try to set up something for better recording than just pointing my phone and trying not to breathe too loud...

A little jam with some sequencers and my exciting new FMOS module. (Although I didn't do anything too exciting with it.)
Nothing too fancy, except noise -> attenuator -> S&H -> quantizer -> VCO for a random part with a controllable range.

What I need to work on (mostly thinking out loud):
- Keeping parts timbrally separate. It's too easy to put everything in the same frequency range so it gets muddy.
- Not just plugging in the Topograf and Drumkit and calling it a rhythm track. That's too easy, but it works so well it's hard not to do it anyway. I have a row of modules set up to act as a drum voice, too, with a 2osc/d, noise, and env and vca and a filter, so at least I can make a more interesting drum voice if I want. Those Drumkit hihats are just so useful though...
- Not just defaulting to noodly arpeggiations with delay. It's easy but I do it all the time. I keep sitting down and trying to do some long evolving thing and ending up with beats and boops, again, because it's easy.

Loaded up an alternate firmware for GRAINS and made some boops and stuff.
I like how the SOLINA sounds through a lowkey band-pass filter.
The words are selected by an LFO through a sample and hold triggered by one channel of the TRIQ164.
