One should actually be able to access the +/- (or any other contacts you like) from the back!

Do yourself a favor: don't use a pertinax board, but a board made from exoyd resin. The copper layers are stronger. I also soldered the connector from behind. Both ensure that
the connector does not tear off if too much force is applied to them. Here's my version 2:
