Deciding to take the plunge into the world of DIY modular. I was wondering if I should get the BEARDBOARD module or instead get a bigger breadboard. I plan to do a lot of Arduino/Teensey this year. I'd like to make my own Arduino sequencer, but I worry that the little BrAEdboard module will be too small for testing a whole sequencer.
Also I lead solder better than non-lead solder?

I find the BrAEdboard module is better suited for small helper circuits that you want to experiment with and keep in your rack. For development you will want a bigger, external breadboard. You can still get 5V, GND, etc. from an empty bus socket in your rack easily.

Agree with TNM & MikMo, for real experimenting, esp with 'larger' units like Arduino of Teensy, a big breadboard of even two breadboards is a must. It's also easier to manipulate, you can turn it around etc. I do like the braedboard for small helper circuits like a buffer, a simple Amp etc. And I do use the two pots that come with it on my other breadboard.
It's easier to work structured (and make less mistakes) when you have a lot of space to work with. It also gives you a clearer overview when things start to get messy.

On the solder and soldering: I use lead-based, but I'm looking to switch to leadfree. From what I've heard, lead-free is trickier to solder & you need a hotter soldering iron, but you know, in return you live longer so that seems worth it 😉
There are some great videos on ytb on soldering & gear by EEVBlog, great channel. Really passionate guy, makes soldering iron talk seem like a life changing experience.

I only ever soldered lead free with a 10€ iron and never had any problems related to the solder (although a better iron does make a difference).

I actually have a decent old Weller iron that was replaced at my workplace, but it has no temperaturen setting. But nice to know that it might be just fine! I was planning to buy leadfree with my next soldering tin purchase, but this tin seems to last forever... I've used it over one year and the roll still is not even close to half.

I actually just finished my second 100g roll yesterday. I bought it in 2016 and the one before that in 2012 apparently

Braedboard is always useful but a bigger breadboard on the side is indispensable, along with a breadboard power supply for doing your initial testing before connecting your circuit to your modular.
