Technologically I wanted to explore "machine learning." Can a machine learn to improvise music? Well, take a listen and tell me what you think.

The opening track already tickles my fancy. Could you elaborate on how you approached the machine learning? Is the sequencing happening inside a computer? Do you use a daw? Supercollider? Max/MSP? PureData?

Had a quick flick through the first half - enjoyed what I heard. I'll be back... Cauvin and modes are right up my street!

Yeah, this album was highly influenced by Terry Riley's "A Rainbow in Curved Air" album. It's minimalist music: A minimalist texture beneath with an improvised solo atop that structure. So, the music is very modal like most minimalist music is, but I love that Terry Riley actually improvises, whereas Steve Reich and Philip Glass don't.
As far as "machine learning," Everything is in the AE modular only. No outside controllers or computers.
All sequencing is done with two Seq 16s, one Seq 8, an rbss, and the basic 2 sample and hold module. I also run two quantizers, although much of the time I only use one.
The advantage of two quantizers is the minimalist understructure forming the texture is handled by one quantizer. The solo voice is handled by another quantizer so that I can change scales and superimpose shifting modes without shifting the under structure. I don't that very often, but usually only when I want to play "outside the changes."
From here I need more sources of random to add more depth to the solos, chaos generators. I also want a bigger format because the patches are do dense that I often have difficulty reaching the knobs through the pile of spaghetti wires. Small format has it drawback as well as large format. I plan to add at least two rows of Kosmo format, preferably four. It's a "metric" 5U format. The height of Kosmo modules is 20cm, exactly double that of AE Modular.
They have the same philosophy as well do, to lower the cost of modular synths. They do it by making everything DIY.

Just to put some info next the "Kosmo Format". That's Sam Battle's DIY synth format from "Look Mum No Computer": www.youtube.com/channel/UCafxR2HWJRmMfSdyZXvZMTwHere is more info on the format: www.lookmumnocomputer.com/modularAlso Sam is an amazing artist and super entertaining performer. I saw his live show in 2019 in Berlin just after Superbooth and it was such a great show even though he was battling with a nasty ground loop hum and even complete Synth failure half way through the show! Here's a photo of The5htVolt meets LMNC

Still listening. Still impressed.
I can hear the jazz / Coltrane tribute you mentioned in the jazz thread. I would probably, due to my lack of jazz knowledge / exposure, not have heard it if you had not mentioned it.
I really like how you use the interaction between multiple sequencers and the quantizers.

funbun i'm trying out some chaos modules on the breadboard this weekend, I have felt the need too for another chaos source besides the RBSS. (If you're interested, i'm trying to adapt the Eurorack 'triple sloth' module, but just with one sloth for now) I'll post results on the diy forum ofcourse 😁
