Hello I am new to the forum and AE Modular. I searched ahead of time to make sure this is not a duplicate post (hopefully it isn't).
I own two Master I/O modules and would like to use both of them - one each in a Standard two row case - in my two cases. My thinking is that I can bring one MIDI channel in per Master (14,15, or 16) to allow a second MIDI channel to control a second voices or for multiple clocks.
I just purchased the second Standard two row case today from Tangible Waves, and I'm the US, so I assume it will be a bit before it arrives. But I want to prepare for how I will connect it when it arrives.
My understanding is that the Joint kit will transfer power between the two cases, but if I use that with one Master I/O in each two row case, then it seems I should not use the connector ribbon cable and instead power the new case and second Master externally. Is this correct?
From what I've read, a single Master I/O can power both cases, so the second power adapter should not be necessary. If that is the case, then my second thought is that I do use the Joint Kit cable, but if I do this, would the second Master I/O module be connected to the bus cable in its row as normal?
Last, if I do add the second Master I/O to the second case and it is Ok to power it via the Joint Kit cable, would it still be possible to use a second MIDI channel?
I hope these questions make sense. Inline is at least a screenshot of what I'm trying to accomplish.
Thank you for your help, and thank you robertlanger for this great new format!

If you want two different MIDI channels, then you would need two master modules, and power them separately.
Actually the only connection between them should be a common ground. The bus cable carries the CV / gate / clock signals that are converted from the MIDI signal in the master module, so the two bus cables attached to each master modules can not be connected together as it would "mix up" the CV / gate / clock" signals from the two MIDI channels.

Is this correct? Yes that is correct. If you have two master modules and two cases then you don't need the ribbon connector, just power each case independently via its own master. However you only need one power supply with a splitter cable, that way you ensure that the two cases have a common ground so you can patch between them. The power supply from tangible waves has enough amperage to power at least two full 4 row cases with two or more master modules.

I apologize for the delay but wanted to say thank you for clarifying. This info has helped give me a better understanding how to power and link my system properly.
Best regards.
