Really honing in on a nice sound after half a year of having my AE unit. Thinking of releasing some music, soon. This is a playlist of the EP that I'm working on that just uses AE and found sounds:

Phew, impressive minimal/microhouse sound! Really love the percs.
I'm curious how many of it is AE, and if you could tell me a bit about your workflow? I've been trying some different mixes/workflows to make techno tracks on AE but have not yet found the perfect one (although there probably ain't one).

Depending on the track, anywhere from 50-80% of it is AE. I used to come up with arrangements on my AE that tended to murk up recordings (and make them really hard to edit/mix), so I started coming up with ways to keep the sound clean while keeping the live-sequenced feel - which led to this minimalist/microhouse sound. 1. I start out with a rough patch - usually, 1 osc, the kick module, and different uses of the noise module for sound and control. I've been attracted to the sample and hold being applied to my filters, lately. Since I have 2 sequencers, a lot can be done in terms of syncing ideas together to see how they'll sound before putting them together in their own channels. Sometimes, I'll also add some pre-FX with guitar pedals or in Logic to see if I can't shape the sound to be a little more crisp before committing to tracking. 2. When it comes to recording, I slave everything to Logic Pro X's clock. I run the external MIDI channel to the AE while recording synth's audio output. 3. I record found sounds from traffic noise, conversation, and whatever else I feel serves the track with my old Zoom H2 in 96khz. Most of the sessions I do with these tracks are recorded in that sample rate. I do most of the editing of found sounds by cutting up the transients with Logic's Flex tool, then make instrument sets in the digital samplers within Logic. Sometimes, I'll run the more percussive found sound sequences into my AE's filter to give them a bit more character. I'm not the best at explaining my setup/process, I just do the thing But I hope that helps a little.

I agree! I've been having a lot of fun seeing/hearing how folks work, too.

Damn that second track is fire too, wow!!!! Really impressed by your sound & rhythmic found sounds. Best combination of more Industrial sounds & microhouse I heard in a long time. Looking forward to some kind of official release!! Hope I can dance my ass off to this tracks in some dirty warehouse soon, would def spin this in some of my sets. Great to hear about your recording process, thanks for sharing, it is a really good explanation. I should probably also run some of my Ableton tracks through AE Filters for some extra grit. Inspirational stuff!

I'm uploading the stems so that whomever wants to can remix it - I'd definitely include choice remixes on the EP release

Thanks! There's so much to explore with the AE and found sound combo. I'm really excited with the start of this new process.

I contacted the uppers in my label for a launch date for this new remix community: The soft launch is invitation-only on June 12. However - they said that I have any personal invites, I'm more than welcome to include them in the soft launch. Let me know if you're still interested, I'd love to put in a good word.

This is honestly perfect. #GOAELS EDIT: Didn't realize this was a playlist! Please make an album? You're too kind... I feel I have a long way to go, but it's a good place to start! 1//1 EP from my foxermod project will be released soon... The timeline of releases is still being set, so I'm not sure when. All the deliverables have been sent to the label and confirmed by them, though! So, there's that... I don't post masters to soundcloud, but I post near-done mixes. So, these tunes will be the 4 featured tracks on that EP along with remixes from a new remix community the label I belong to is starting up, called Oddeotrax. All of these track stems will be available to remix.

Just uploaded another little idea - and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna keep it. It's feeling easier and easier to get ideas down quickly. Man, I love this synth.

id be keeping that, nice piece. did you sample or sequence this piece externally or was it just Ae? It was all put together in bits and pieces from the AE into Logic. Some things were live performed with the AE, other things just sampled from the AE and sequenced into Logic. Either way, Logic is what I use to arrange the final track.

Cool, There are so many cool sounds that come out of the Ae while noodling that it's hard not to sample them to use seperately while playing live.

Use it how you see fit, as long as it serves the moment/music that you make
