This one's a no-brainer !

Again a must have 😅. With tap tempo 👌. So handy when jamming with non electronic instruments player.

Wow! Do I understand it correctly that the “accel.” parameter adjusts how quickly/smoothly the clock rate changes, when switching to another preset with one of the extender buttons? This would make creating variable tempo patches so easy and fun! Also … is there CV control over the presets?

Yes! Please tell us what the CVs in are for?

Will there be such new module everyday of the superbooth21? Should I start to sell my house so I'll get all the super new module 🤪
Still amazed, after several years of having AE modular, each new module how far this is going. Just 👌😱✌️
Also, 2cv maybe swing and 🤷

In general, the two CV and gate inputs will be freely assignable to control most functions of the module.

I was excited to see the Heartbeat but to add the Accel and preset functionality is a fantastic idea and then possibly cv controlling between presets.....wow. Thanks for this.

Great addition! I really like the idea of the extender also, if I understand how it work. Might be the time to synch all my stuff.
Thank you for such great work on the new modules!

Yes! Now I won't go crazy trying to match tempos in Garageband for Aetherwaves vol.4 "The Tempoing" (I almost gave up for vol. 3, but just ended up recording "live").

by any chance would you be able to assign a different midi channel per the 1-6 outputs? :praying:

Yes, Heartbeat is only for MIDI clock as I understand it and I don’t think that there is a separate MIDI clock signal per channel.

Just got heartbeat +expander, haven’t added them to my rack yet. Does Heartbeat send clock to the bus? I’m imagining not, since it looks like there is a input socket for clock, which would then mean there aren’t conflicts between heartbeat and the midi clock derived from the master module, correct?

It does not send clock to the bus. You can do midi -> master -> bus -> heartbeat if you want to use the master module for midi input, or use the separately or whatever. Heartbeat is a really nice addition to a rack that doesn't already have MIDI-- like if you wanted to run sequencers from MIDI but don't care about the CV/gate functionality of the master module, you could use a power module plus heartbeat and get a solid little drum/sequencer brain. It would be REALLY neat if you could feed a divided clock signal (24ppq -> one tick per 16th note or whatever) into the system bus to save a little patching on a drum/sequencer rack, but that's been my architectural dream for a while. 8) I should finally mod a MASTER module to isolate it from the clock bus, but mmm effort. I am VERY fond of the heartbeat module. It combines 3 or 4 units worth of other stuff (half a MASTER, various clock dividers, mults, etc) into 2 spaces. It's nice and efficient and well-thought-out. Having multiple outputs saves me a 4buffer, too. It also can tell you the BPM of the MIDI clock it's receiving, and has helped me troubleshoot some really obnoxious midi timing issues I've been running into with my computer. (Sending 120bpm, watching it swing from 90 to 140bpm on the heartbeat module, yuck.)
It doesn't receive on particular MIDI channels, but just midi beat clock which is channel-less. You do have a bunch of control over what goes out of each of the 6 outputs.
The CV inputs are configurable to control various things. I can go step through the menus in a little bit if anyone is really curious. I think it lets you control swing and tempo if you want, and maybe other stuff.
The RESET input is important to wire up if you're using it as a fancy beat divider (that is, feeding clock into its input rather than using MIDI or its internal clock) since that will help keep the swing sounding right. Otherwise you can end up swinging the wrong steps and it'll sound weird.
You also must hit the start button or it will not transmit anything, even if you're sending it an external clock.
If you've been thinking of picking up a Sixty-Four Pixels CV.OCD box and a 4IO or 3 for magical MIDI clockin' action (and don't care as much about the cv/gate of the cv.ocd) the heartbeat and extender modules will save you a lot of trouble. It's ultimately cheaper and more efficient since it's all in the AE rack and you don't need 2 or 3 spaces worth of 4IO and a bunch of cables and stuff, and easier to find than a cv.ocd, which isn't always available.

I want to report that this module cannot be mounted next to the Master module : the potentiometer hits the little circuit board that is mounted parallel to the modules. No big deal but good to know.
