Hello everyone, I got inspired by this other thread to go ahead and customize my AE with some color forum.aemodular.com/thread/1104/customizing-front-panels-paperI was surprised by how quick and easy it was, it took a total of maybe 4 hours to do everything. Hardest part was writing the tiny text on the inputs/outputs Materials were: Colored paper Paper cutter White and gold pens Color "logic" was: Purple for sound generators (oscillators) Blue for filters Green for modulators (lfos and envs) Red for utility? (logic, att, s&h, etc) Black for uhm general stuff? It is very rustic and it can be improved a LOT, but i think it turned out cool enough for a first attempt. My next project will be to paint the actual faceplates (eventually). Anyways heres some pictures, let me know what you think!

Oh gee, I just had an idea! What about proper sturdy panels, like robertlanger ist offering soon, but with a white or grey primer color paint and then laser etched labels (so the label text is not covered in primer). This way one could paint onto the panels with a certain paint type, without the labels being obscured, because the color doesn’t stick easily to the laser etched front panel plastic (or whatever material). I’m on my second beer here, so it’s probably a bad/not feasible idea … but I’m into it

Upate on my colored system Soooo I decided to just go ahead and just spray paint my entire system, the entire process took 2 and a half days (mostly waiting for paint to dry) heres the results: Materials: Colored Spray cans (black, red, blue, purple, green) Barnish Spray Gold, Silver, White ink pens Thin black marker Lessons Learned/Improvements: Make sure you know a bit about color composition before you start because I didnt and realized to late that some colors dont work great with one another, for example gold text on green, blue or purple backgrounds doesnt stand out as much making it hard to read; on the other hand gold text on black and red background looks great. Color scheme: Purple is for sound generators Blue is for sound manglers like filters and effects (Cirrus is the only dual color blue/purple because it does so much) Green is for Modulators Red is for utilities Black is for interface and sequencers And colored knobs are: Blue for pitch/frequencies Red for any (most) cv modulate values Green is for "unique" parameters like chaos on the topograf or all the granular stuff on cirrus
