Hi everyone. Let me begin by saying I really like my time here so far and how friendly and helpful everyone has been. I have a question about the ctrl inputs on the master module. What are some uses for it? Is it in essence very similar to the 4i/o but only two? Also, can I send sync out from a volca to the ctrl input and have the modular play in sync with the Volca? I am thinking Vokca Drum btw. I have a volca modular and have ordered the specific i/o bridge for that. I am asking strictly about the master i/o.

Hi S&E, I hope you don't mind that I've moved your post to the tangible waves sub board which is the place to ask questions about specific modules. The inputs and outputs on the MASTER work very similar like the 4I/O and you can use them for audio in/out or CV in/out. The 4I/O has the added benefit that you can put a stereo cable into the first jack and get a stereo out from inputs 1 and 2. The same for the 3rd jack which, if you put a stereo cable in, will send 3 and 4 into the stereo left and right channels. All of this is very well documented on the wiki, please have a look: wiki.aemodular.com/pmwiki.php/AeManual/MASTERwiki.aemodular.com/pmwiki.php/AeManual/4IO

Hi S&E, I've made a short demo video to show you that it is very possible to sync your Volca with the AE Modular: In this case I used the MM-DIVIDER as an intermediary clock so I can clock multiple things on the AE, but you don't have to. You can go straight from the CTRL 1 to the sequencer.

This is all great to hear, glad to know it all just works. I am looking forward to syncing my Sonicware 8bit and other machines with sync. I don't think I need to but it does open other possibilities and some more unique hybrid creations.

Very interested in hearing how the combination with the 8bit works out! Have been thinking of buying Sonicware stuff on multiple occasions. Both the FM Groovebox & 8bit look like incredible volca's on steroids.
Just to chime in on the question: syncing volca's & PO's with AE has worked like a charm for me in the past, using just the master module.

I will certainly let u know after I have actually connected them and used them together. Let me tell u though that the 8bit sounds really good. It only has 1 track of live sequencing but it can record loops from the inside or from its audio input. It can have 4 loops at once. They are lost on power down, but it is a useful feature anyway. I don't know what algos they are using but the machine sounds wonderful. I did a pre-order on the FM machine and it came with a limited edition case. I haven't opened it yet, but I already am looking forward to it, this one has 3 live tracks. I wish the 8bit had one or two more live sequence tracks but what can you do. I think they are certainly worth the money.

I have another question please. Is it possible to use the 2 audio in as ctrl in, so that I can have 4 ctrl in?

I have another question please. Is it possible to use the 2 audio in as ctrl in, so that I can have 4 ctrl in? If you are asking if the 2 I/Os are CV or Audio the answer is yes, they can be, it is possible there may be some glitches (more usual the other way around, i.e. using a CV thing in audio) but may add to the charm,

Sorry, meant to add on the reply that some of these things you can just try; as long as you are in the 0-5V range you can't damage any AE module plugging things into the "wrong" input or output. The only reason you would be outside this range is bringing in signals from external devices.
