It's here, it's finally here! But with a 'kinda' added..
So as some of you might now, the realisation of the Five Steps module has been, well, a bumpy ride. Lots of prototypes have been on the desk, lots of components & boards ended up in the waste bin, but the future looked bright with the last prototype: all was working fine, only the knob order & output order was reversed. So I made some changes in the circuit & PCB, and sent the plans over to JLCPCB to get 20 boards made with components soldered in already.
And now here we are: twenty working Five Steps modules, looking good & being a lot of fun to play but.. The knobs are still reversed
This is because I made a (pretty stupid) mistake, which solved the problem for output 2-5 (this is in the right order now), but not for the knobs.
I've been thinking a lot over the weekend about this. It would be a terrible waste (component-, worktime- & money-wise) to throw these all in the bin. At the same time, selling them at a low price would also hurt, as the 'market' is still pretty small. I don't expect to sell a lot more than 20 modules over the first months. So if I would sell al of these at a superlow price, I wouldn't have any people to sell the real final module to haha!
So I thought somewhere in the middle would be the sweet spot. I plan to sell the final module for €50. I sold four of the prototypes with bigger mistakes for €30 (which is about the price it costs to make one, including work hours). So this one is going online for €40.
If you like to have a perfect Five Steps module, it will def be here in the near future, but it might take another month or so. If you are fine with a reversed knobs order, this is the module for you!
Cheers!
