Cool, so one sloth has arrived down under, so I hope mine isn't too far behind. True it's a pretty good indication. Yours must be heading down the coast as we speak! Aaaand the Sloth has arrived, together with 5 Steps and The Great Divide! Xmas holidays are saved!

Happy to hear these are getting at their new homes! And pt3r thanks for your nice words can't wait to hear a first piece of you with it!

Funny to hear that shipping to down under takes the same time as shipping around the corner. It seems BPost has hired a bunch of Sloths themselves, slow and unpredictable with very little control.

Carsten's package was sent more than a month ago, as he would have been a 'beta tester' I've had a few bad experiences with Bpost as well in the past, but I must really give them credit for delivering cheap and quite fast to other countries abroad. My experiences with them when selling kits/modules has been really good.

It's really nice for slow evolution in a patch but so far the best use I found was to put it into the X or y (not both at a time) input from the Topograph. Depending were the corresponding knob is, it gives nice pattern which will repeat itself evry 3 or 4 bars! Perfect for getting out of the 1 bar pattern and with an attenuator in between you could switch back from 1 to whatever number of bar for your pattern. 👌

it's a wonderful source of (un)certainty in combination with the great divide.

Really enjoying it. It kind of replace my Joystick for tweaking several parameters of the patch at once. Will try to mix both Sloth and joystick with the XMIX when I'll received it. So I'll have the slow evolution and some stronger one when I'll touch the joystick... So much to discover and try out... It is what I like in modular evolution; at every patch the limitations give you ideas on what to try next.

Any idea when Sloth will be available again? I just realised it's been gone a while!

Just found my Sloth kit. I bought a Sloth kit, then lost it. It's been about a year, but I just found it again. Finally I can get to building this module.

Happy soldering Damon, I think you will like sloth it allows for some very creative cv patching, especialy in combo with a cv tool module, for that extra shaping.

Hello! I'm just getting around to building my Sloth module now! it's actually my first soldering project and I think it's going fine so far. Just I've encountered these components which aren't mentioned in the documentation. It looks like the ICs are meant to sit into them possibly so you can solder them in, instead of directly soldering the ICs? Am I right about this? Is it an optional thing? Just wondering what the best practice would be for this. Many thanks, Will

If you are good are soldering you can manage without but in general it is best to use the mounting sockets to protect the ICs from the heat.

And it is much easier to replace a chip if it were to die on you, no need to desolder/resolder. Most chips are not that easily destroyed by soldering heat, unless you are really hamfisted.

Many thanks, Will View AttachmentHey William I'm glad you got some help from the other kind forum members here, I missed your post at first, sorry! If someone mentions it is there first time soldering, I add these sockets. As mentioned by pol and pt3r (thanks for that!), they basically protect the IC's because you don't have to solder them in directly. In general, IC's are the easiest components to 'fry' with excessive heat (but don't be afraid, this is still something very rare to happen!). I should probably make a mention in the build docs, what/when/how to solder the sockets when they are included. Thanks for pointing that out. Hope the build went fine otherwise!

Thanks for the replies all! Yes, I used the sockets and everything works great! I was surprised how straightforward it was actually, I'll definitely try some more kits in the near future Thanks again!
