Ok this is one that's been bugging me since i started with AE but i always assumed i was misunderstanding or doing something wrong:
I've got a few filters installed - SV, WASP, and MS20 - each of them has a H and L input. The wiki pages for these modules all state that the H input is the 'main' input and L is mixed in at a lower level but i swear it's the other way round for me on every filter i've used. Am i imagining it or patching it wrong or....? I always use the L input (rarely send two signals into the same filter tbh) and it always seems a lot louder that way. Am i going mad?

You've intrigued me, I haven't noticed that behavior - I use the multiple ins a lot to avoid needing more mixer modules. I am unlikely to be in the studio before this weekend, so if nobody answers before then.....

I'm also intrigued, will have a look later today and do some comparison via the meter module to see what's up.

I think you have it wrong and I made the same mistake - the h and l inputs are not for mixing, they are for a low of high signal (I may have the wording wrong there), so the lower one will indeed make the signal louder. Mixing is supposed to be done prior to sending to either input.

Indeed the manual/wiki is confusing i checked with the meter and the output is higher when you plug the signals in the Low level input than when you plug it into the High input.

Ooohh i get what you're saying - so 'high' and 'low' refers to the signal level they accept rather than the level they produce. Gotcha! Probably the wiki pages could be clearer on this (although i haven't seen anyone else question it before so maybe people are just figuring it out themselves!)

I also plugged my signals by default in the High input, will probably use the Low input more now.

I've sent a request to Robert to get to the bottom of this and once I have a definite description of what the inputs do, I'll update the Wiki accordingly.

Here's what Robert told me about the inputs some time back - I'm sure he won't mind me passing on:
"The L and H inputs are not designed for mixing, but more as two different input levels for the filter (where other filters eg. in Eurorack have a dedicated input level knob)."

Having tested on a module myself (can't do the MS20 filter, nor version 2 of the wasp filter as I don't have) I can vouch for this, and have updated the relevant wiki pages, admin
