Hi all!
First of all (yeah i'm late) a very happy new year to all of you
While I do love to read all of the year end thoughts and memories about the year past, I mostly shy away from my phone & general internet around that time. So I guess I'll never be a good 'happy new year from the company' businessman, but the internet/phone/impulse-detox always makes for a refreshing start of the year for me. However, I do want to thank everyone who supported Keurslager Kurt in any way, that being from buying stuff, listening to music, or even just dropping a like or a comment. I have really been amazed by the response and by how many great, supportive people are out there. This community is truely something special, so thanks to all of you for that. This does get said a lot around here, but I think it can't be said enough as I'm still amazed every time. I hope you all have a great 2022.
I'm sure 2022 will be an exciting year for Keurslager Kurt as well! Some things that are in the pipeline:
New sloths revision:
I just finished a new revision for the Sloths module. Functionally the module will be exactly the same, but some PCB quirks of the first run have been changed (looking at you, shared resistor hole!). Also the front plate has been improved and will now feature just one LED, but it is bipolar and changes color depending on the Sloths behaviour. Test PCB is on the way, if all is good I will order the full run right after and the Sloths will be back online end february. Good idea to join the mailing list over on Tindie if you're interested and having already, because this module seems to be quite the popular one!
555 VCO:
Heaven sent me an angel: m4vrick made a PCB for my 555 VCO and managed to fit it on a 2U board. As of now, there are three proto-prototypes, and another prototype run should be coming soon. As I want this VCO to be highly temperature stable with good tracking, there will be an extensive testing stage with different conditions and long waiting times (how else would you know if it stays good for months?). So this will be for 2022, but I think it will be more for mid/end-2022. But we'll keep you updated!
AE Pi Pico:
I have a breadboard prototype of a build incorporating the amazing Pi Pico (€4 microcontroller that runs Python based on EuroPi opensource project). As of now I'm still testing and playing with the amount of inputs, if you're interested yourself you can always build it on the breadboard! (schematics on DIY page). I hope to release a beta run of this as well, all people who have mentioned there willingness to test it: i gotcha and your names are noted! If this seems fun to anyone else, drop a comment. I'm sure this will be a very fun and community-driven project, but the usefulness for non-programming people will highly depend on what we build for it of course! But I imagine a Grains on different steroïds (Pico has a 133 MHz clock and 2 CPU's!), however as its a pretty new microcontroller, the ecosystem is still very young.
Something very big..
Not a lot to say here yet, but.. I think some real big news is coming in 2022 as well
