Hello everyone, This blog comes as trouble is growing to the east. However, making music is better than killing people so we won't stop producing electronic instruments. If only there were more synths than weapons .. surely the world would be a better place? New products, a conundrum and new albums from our community ... read it all in the new blog post here: www.tangiblewaves.com/news/february-2022-make-synths-not-war

Holy Smokes! Robert has remade the fabled KVgear Vixen Mixer that never made it to the uk and now is no longer made... i think it died a death due to bad noise problems which i’m sure Robert has NOT copied ... probably it isn’t battery powered either? Anyway it was something i always had an urge to own and getting it from TW will feel even nicer ... i’m sure it will bring a few more non AE customers to the store as well. coincidentally this week i was eyeing up a very flawed but intriguing Volca Mix on ebay going for £59 .. but even at that price it seemed a weird purchase to make.. for the contentious filter name maybe.. Kuzmin Olim ( after his wife who apparently inspired the synths ‘look’ ) Ostalgie Voks Formanta ( after the factory where it was made , though could be confusing if people thought it was a ‘formant’ filter? )

Call it the vladivoks nice and simple. You honor the originator without naming it accidentally after some POS war criminal.

I actually bought a used Vixen Mixer off Gumtree (it was quite expensive, because rare). It's one of the original blue ones from the Kick Starter campaign. I think it's not that bad noise wise, and the form factor and features are just what the Volca doctor ordered. A shame that the company stopped making them. So Robert's mixer will fill that void left by an inadequate offering by Korg and the demise of the Vixen and I hope it will sell to thousands of Volca users out there. BTW ... the VMIX-10 does not run on batteries, but comes with power supply included.

That mixer looks SLICK and SUPER useful! I think as mentioned above, Vladivoks is pretty cool, or just Kuzmin Filter if the main point is honoring the original creator. Very stoked to hear yet another unique filter joining the line-up!!

Yeah i think Kuzmin Filter has a nice ring to it! Or VK-Filter?
That stand-alone mixer looks incredible, i hope it brings some new attention to TW from outside the modular-verse. This would definitely have piqued my interest back when i was looking for a Volca mixer (eventually ended up with a Bastl Dude). Definitely more appealing than the weirdly half-baked official korg mixer.

How about calling it the Kuzminic Filter?

Ok, late to this thread… call it the Supreme Soviet and put a hammer and sickle logo on it! That will differentiate it from the current Russian administration and add some marketing fizz to it. Or go one step further down the Road to Hell and put Lenin’s face on it. In fact you could just get ridiculous with Marx and Lenin’s profiles and various Cold War slogans all made very cartoon like and tiny on the faceplate.

Vladivoks sounds the coolest and catchiest. Kuzmin/ic if want to stay away from even the slightest link.

Kuzivoks. Looks Russian. Sounds Russian. No politics nor even a hint of misunderstanding.

Kooz - hybrid of Kuzmin and Moog
Multiphony - This is a reversal of Polivoks. Poly has a Greek origin and vox has a Latin origin. Multi would then be the Latin at the beginning and phony for the Greek ending. This mix and matching of Greek and Latin roots is supposed to be a faux pas, but here we are with televisions.
Vokswagen - obviously.
Polivolks - An odd variation that kinda hints at there are also different folks out there.
I do like the simplicity of the VK filter. And I can see referring to it as the "Vick" filter.

“Kuzmin Filter” if honoring Vladimir Kuzmin is the goal. Plus I think that sounds super cool.
But also, there could be an opportunity here to “set in stone” the coinciding moment in history we’re in and the lesson this is teaching all of us, by naming the module something like the “Peace Filter”

The VMIX-10 is really cool ! It's the first standalone Tangible Waves product no ?

Another vote for Kuzmin filter! I also suggest VK or VKP filter. I've always loved the sound of that filter, so it will definitely be a must have for me! 😊
