Hi I'm new here. Just received few days ago starter rack 2 and trying to integrate it in my workflow. For now I have a question about midi (I want to use it as multitimbral synth with different midichannels but it seems I need separate master I/o modules)

Hi George
I think the mastermodule only supports receiving on one (selectable) MIDI channel at a time.
Also, you can only have one mastermodule in your setup, unless you have completely separate racks.
The master module sends signals out on the bus cable that connects all modules. If there were multiple mastermodules, they would ruin the signals for each other.
If you have equipment that has CV / gate out, that could (probably) be used with your AE rack via the master module or the 4 I/O module.

Yeah I have OXI ONE sequencer which able to send gate/CV data. It would be cool to have separate module with midi input and output of CV/Gate per channel (maybe for 4-8 channels). Basically it should be pretty straightforward to make with Arduino but I need some parts(inputs) for connecting of wires.

I think there are people working on some MIDI module for the AE that is more capable than the master module.

Hey, what controller is that? I've been looking for a way to do extended performances. While I've done well with AE modular's SEQ16 and SEQ8 sequencers, they aren't enough to perform multi-movement works akin to my classical music training.
I'm still continually amazed at the sound people get from the AE system.
So, yes, currently the 4I/O module would be your only hope. It seems the OXI has plenty of CV outs.

If you mean not OXI - it's DIY joystick controller sending pitchbend/ModWheel data. The way to make music more expressive

I think there are people working on some MIDI module for the AE that is more capable than the master module. And I wish they would hurry up!
