Notes: - 1 take, recorded into 2 stereo tracks (drums through a compressor and everything else)
- Rhythm is my drum rack, as used for the Wonkystuff uDrum demo I posted last week
- Delay on kick is fun but I think I may be using it too often.
- Snare through delay is interesting-- something about it distorts so it sounds like a swarm of different snares.
- Boopy part is a 2OSC/d through Kuzmin.
- Bass part is SAWVOX -> phaser with some Wonkystuff RBSS modulation on the sawvox filter
- Chords are Solina, of course.
Nothing too groundbreaking but I thought it came out okay.

Boopy yet musical with clear progressions. Nice one. This makes me think that you did use some eternal form of sequencing or that you have a ton of sequencers in your rack?

Boopy yet musical with clear progressions. Nice one. This makes me think that you did use some eternal form of sequencing or that you have a ton of sequencers in your rack? This is all AE-- so many sequencers! SEQ8 clocked real slow for the bass and chords-- CV patched to the sawvox and solina. Sawvox envelope triggered from the SEQ8, and an envelope for the solina triggered by a 12-step euclid grid sequence. Boopin' is done by a SEQ16. Drums are a mix of TRIQ164 and TOPOGRAF. But yeah, I hoard sequencers. Currently there are 2 seq16s and a seq8 in the non-drum side of things, and I have another seq16 and seq8 waiting for whenever I reconfigure everything. I spent a lot of time figuring out how to get everything to reset properly-- there's a dedicated buffered mult to distribute some clocks and the stop/reset pulse from the master. The heartbeat module simplified my sequencer spaghetti since it has different outs that you can divide in various ways. Really helpful for progressions and stretching 8-step sequences across more bars (like for held bass notes or for sending a long CV to something with an envelope triggered by something else.) I like to set up rhythmic parts like that-- SEQ8, clocked at 1/4 or 1/2 the speed of everything else, plus a Euclid Grid or triq164 clocked at 16th notes. Patch the CV to an oscillator, patch the 16th note trigger sequence to an envelope, and you can stretch one knob's worth of SEQ8 into several bars of rhythmic pulsing. (Then run that through a delay and call it a song, heh.)

I love that buffered multi idea, a great way to change up the Clocks.
Do you use that purely for switching or do you find it is needed for boosting the clock signal?
I haven't noticed a drop in signal but I know others have.

With 1 or 2 sequencers, you don't get a drop, but with more than that, you sometimes get skipped steps. I was using a passive mult for a while, and I'd see all kinds of timing issues. Different sequencers are differently sensitive, too-- I saw the SEQ8 handling start/stop/reset signals differently from SEQ16s, and ran into reset issues, timing issues, and all kinds of stuff before I started using a buffered mult for clock and reset distribution.
We have so many great sequencer options in the AE world-- SEQ8 and SEQ16, TRIQ164, TOPOGRAF, Kyaa's Euclid Grid, the various clock dividers, Wonkystuff's RBSS-- one of the decisions I wish had been made differently early on was to have the MASTER send 24ppqn clock to the bus instead of 16th note or some other, more flexible clocking standard. 24ppqn is good for submodules, but none of them use the bus directly. I do a lot of stuff based on sending different clocks to different modules, and a buffered mult is required to keep all the sequencers happy.
The HEARTBEAT module and its different output divisions has been great-- it's 8 outputs, 2 each for the first 2 configs, and 1 each for the next 4. I can set up output 1/2 as 16th note triggers, 2/3 as 8th note triggers, and different divisions for the next 4. Mostly it's done away with the need for buffered mults for the clock signals, but I still end up with a lot of 16th note things, so I usually use 1 or 2 pairs on the 4BUFFER just for extra 16th note clocks.
SEQ8 and SEQ16 handle the reset trigger differently, too, which is a little obnoxious but not too hard to work around. I think I wrote that up in another post somewhere on here...
Anyway, buffered mults are you friend with clock signals, if you want them to keep in sync.

ahhh yes now I think about it I have noticed a skipped step or 2 coming out of the Euclid sometimes, I'll try the 4buffer Using the Heartbeat along with the MMDiv has opened up a new world of possible sequencing options and as I grow that I'll put the 4buffer in the mix now. I might have to get another one as I do use it for cutting and mixing of the CV or clocks rather than a boost. I think there might be a ubuffer I could use if they are not on that part of performance.

The one that's extra weird is figuring out whether the seq8 wants the bus stop or the bus start patched into its reset. they seem to act slightly differently and I haven't tracked down quite what's going on there, but if you hook up one of them it will never play. I think I wrote that up a while back on the forum... SEQ8 is older though, I think, and that makes it a little less standardized than the sequencers that came after.

I prefer the seq8 over the SEQ16 because it allows me to use 8 discrete voltages whereas the seq16 only has 5 discrete possibilities.

I like with the 5-voltage-setting route that I can set up a phrase and then vary every instance of a given note with a single knob. So I can set up a phrase and change the melody in consistent ways with one knob. I did that on my compilation track and it's nice for varying things in interesting ways. But, yes. It would be cool if the seq16 also had the straight-volts option.
