Here's the set that I played for WAVELENGTH #2, held in Flowergate Hall, Whitby on May 18th 2023.
All sounds come from my AE Modular system, which makes the setup really nice and portable… primary sound source is a wonkystuff 'core.æ' running the VCDO firmware, a trio of wonkystuff µ-drums (triggered from the Tangible Waves TRIQ164 module) and the TW MULTIFX module (using the self-sustaining Shimmerverb program). Also making an appearance is the GRAINS module (running the spell or speak firmware) and another core.æ module running a prototype bytebeat firmware…

Wow. Just wow. Excellent performance. The visuals are absolutely on par with the soundtrack. I liked this a lot. The more videos I see of these modular performances the more I'm tempted to have a go at it but I quite honestly have no clue on how to go about it, as in how does one build a set, do you have an idea before you start or is this all patched in the moment, the visuals give me the idea that it wa somehow premeditated or were these not part of the performance and added later?

Thank you! The original black and white visual part is a stretched/processed version of a Super-8 cine film I made in around 2005/6 (original below; the original soundtrack was made in SoundForge in response to the silent cine film). I knew that I had the gig coming up after Superbooth and I knew that there was going to be a projector/monitor for visuals, so I made the video before going to Berlin (with only a half-idea about what the actual audio might be…!). The modular patch itself was made the day after I returned from Superbooth (and the day before the gig!), it was almost just the drone, but I added the second, more rhythm-oriented rack relatively late in the day. I'll take a picture of the actual rack later as it's still patched up

Mikael I would think so, although I didn't try them at Superbooth… As long as the dimensions of the micro cases are no different to the UBASE then they should be fine. I hope that robertlanger will be able to answer the question as he has a full set now!

I'm investigating a way of improving the shopping experience for European customers — so maybe hold on for a bit!

I'm investigating a way of improving the shopping experience for European customers — so maybe hold on for a bit! If that were possible... the whole br***t nonsense has really put a brake on my purchases over the pond. My AEuropi spent a almost a week in customs and the import taxes are just ridiculous, same story for my MM33+.

I've put in an order for a µdrum rack via the 'new' EU shop, i'll keep you posted on the tax results. Can't wait for this to arrive and make a small topograph/Euclid grid AE drumrack. Really enjoyed this performance as well, and it makes me happy to see a wild sloth in its natural drone habitat like this

I didn't even realise there was an eu shop. Is this still in beta?

I didn't even realise there was an eu shop. Is this still in beta? Woops, might be! namke provided a link on discord, asking if someone could test if it works and if the VAT indeed gets collected by the third party shop instead of high custom fares.

Currently, yes — I want to see how it works with the beta customer before throwing it out more widely The shop only has a small selection of things on it right now, of course if the beta test is successful, all of the content will be there (and I just have to juggle two stock lists!) If you’re curious, the top-level site is ‘lectronz.com’
