Attached is my current system. According to the Modular Planner the total power capacity is 800mA and I'm currently (pun unintended) using 513.7mA. There is this warning "Your rack contains modules discontinued or without price. They are not counted in the total". But I don't consider it very likely that it would exceed the 800mA with non-listed modules included. Now, everything works just fine. But the 3.5mm connections on the Master I/O get so hot that I can't put my finger on them for too long. Is this normal behavior? The adapter itself gets hot too but I can still easily hold it in my hands, so I suppose that is not unusual. Attachments:

This is also relevant when nothing is connected to the USBPOWER module by the way.

Hmmm, this sounds a bit odd; so hot you cannot put your finger on it sounds not ok. Could you remove the following modules (only one at a time) to see if one is consuming excessively power:
- RAINS
- TBD
- MULTIFX
- EUCLID GRID
- ORNAMENT & CRIME
These are the most power hungry modules.
But of course, also one of the others could have some fault that causes too high power consumption.

So, since I posted this I didn't notice any extraordinary warmth anymore. I did disconnect the led lamp from the USB module back then, I could test it further by placing it back again.

It hasn't been shipped yet. I'm actually considering ordering even a bit more modules.
In the documentation I've read that with just 1 master i/o module, up to 5 rows could be powered easily. On the other hand I also read that especially digital modules have bigger power requirements.
So, I'm not sure whether my master i/o will still be enough when I add the new case, connect it with the hinge kit and add all the new modules.
What do you guys think? If it is not enough anymore, what would I need? I suppose I need the hinge kit to connect the 2 cases together. Should I purchase a power module and screw it in the new case and call it the day? I tried to find more info about this but so far I couldn't find anything.

I think the text about 5 rows was probably written when AE was more analog-centered - now with the greater amount of digital modules available, people might start hitting the limit earlier. That said, my gut feeling is that you'll be fine with what you've ordered. Cirrus is hungry, and probably Samplyr too; everything else should be relatively light on power consumption i suspect.

Yeah, it makes sense when that was written in other times with another situation. I think the 2 FX-units might draw relatively much as well. But I could just try it and see how it works. Thanks for thinking with me, I appreciate it!

Currently it seems that there are no data of Mastermodule and Powermodule for maximum output current within the documentation!
At the module documentation sometimes there is the power consumption shown in mA, but not for all modules. Euclid Grid is showing 2.5mA at the documentation, which seems to be the consumption when it is not used. With all LEDs in operation it is surely much more!
It would be useful to have a complete set of date for power supply and consumption!
