I am considering some older modules, but the Wiki does not appear to have information about older module revisions, nor about the differences between revisions. For example:
- The MASTER module has had four revisions. I am considering an original or $2. What are the differences between the four versions?
- What is the difference between the R2 version of 2VCA and the original version?
- The LFO and 2S&H modules I am looking at have options for both the old and the new connector jacks. Are the jacks the only differences, or were there other changes as well?
Can anyone help here?

This info isn't on the Wiki as we rarely recieve it! The Master module I would get a newer one if you are wanting the midi aspect - the earliest ones weren't great on that area. There was a couple of other (minor) issues which the revised modules don't have as well. Basically worth getting the latest one to be the most reliable etc. It is a key module for any system....
The 2VCA is essentially Robert just making the module easier to produce/more reliable and better for general music making - the original Kickstarter system wasn't really intended to be the musical instrument it is today . Having said that, I use the original 2VCA module in my system and it's fine.
The sockets again Robert has sourced more durable/more reliable contact ones for the newer modules; these, along with the T.W. specific patch wires available give us much better/safer connections than the earliest modules. The early modules are again fine in my experience, but the "new" patch wires are a must. I say "new" as, for the kickstarter systems, they weren't really patch wires at all, just computer cables! This evolution is all aprt of the AE system becoming less electronics/ experimental orientated, (it can still do that with ease mind!), and more musical as the years have gone by
The newer LFO modules has 2 in it (hence 2LFO!); the original had oneLFO and all those, to my knowledge will be the same. The 2LFO the sockets will have changed as per previous paragraph, no other changes as far as I am aware.
The Sample & Hold module I believe will be just the point about the newer sockets again.

Thank you for the reply. A follow-up:
- The AEModular Wiki really doesn't get information on revisions?
- Is there anything specific about the 2VCA R2 that improves on the original? What flaws did it fix?
- The newest Master I can get is R2. I was just hoping on understanding the differences between this and R3 and R4 (besides the channel selection in R4).
- I can get LFOs with or without the new sockets. Similarly the 2S&H. I didn't know if any other upgrades had happened when that change was made (I can't get any 2LFO).
- I am interested in the new cables. But my understanding is that as they are larger in diameter, they won't fit in most external 0.1" sockets, such as the tighter sockets found found on many breadboards. Is this correct? I could always use a mix of these and standard 0.1" Dupont cables...

The new cables are much better and it isn't recommended to use standard Dupont cables in the new-style sockets (they can 'snag'). They don't fit very well into a breadboard, it's true (funnily enough they interface quite nicely with Volca Modular though)
Curious about where you're buying from which specifically offers different revisions?

I'm sorry that I can't reply in more detail as I'm travelling.
The new cables can be used with new and old sockets and are an amazing improvement over the standard breadboard cables.
The master module obviously had the channel selector in later revisions but also the Midi implementation has been improved.
All modules from all generations play well together and while the newer revisions have some improvements, the older generation is still great for getting started.

Curious about where you're buying from which specifically offers different revisions? Buying some used elements from a long-time enthusiast in Milan who is downsizing. He has R1, R2, and R4 master I/O (he's keeping the R4).
