I bought this many years ago to get some FM sounds, tweakability and liking the Korg way of doing things. It has not disappointed, I don't use it as much as I used to as other digital synths have ave joined my studio, but love FM bass as much as I always have! It also, for a short while, supplemented my AE to provide pads etc around the sonic mayhem. The Solina module pretty much took that job away but ought to try it again 😊.
Like all the Volca range it is really quite limited but this can also be an tremendous asset when you just want to make music. I usually start with one of the presents/ memories and just fiddle around until I get something that interests or even excited me - got whole songs from starting this way! Its sound quality is excellent and a great addition to the studio; the only reason I can see not to get one is you already have an FM synth, but then it could be a polyphony expander as can play DX7 programs I believe.

yeah, the V2 is really great , 6 voice polyphony ,, and the trs midi in & outs means you can easily use Patch Base app on ios to load and back up single or full banks of presets into it.. and have a big screen interface for all that fiddly programming

Being my first synth had lots of fun with the FM. You could download all the presets you ever needed using Dexed

I was very tempted by the volca range before I decided to go with the AEmodular format since it looked more open ended in its approach.

My problem with all the volcas (and I have a lot of them!) is that I’m not a big fan of repeated 16 step sequences - it’s just not the music I make. One of the great things about the volca FM is the random arpeggiator settings; this means that the same 1,2 or 4 bar sequences always sounds slightly different every time it repeats. Put this through a decent delay and lots of reverb and it’s easy to make an evolving, undulating pad sound. This pleases me very much. When I get the solina module I might retire this technique, but not yet
