I was just introduced to this band particularly the Kollaps album. so thought I'd share it. again I think its amazing to just discover a band that has been around since 1980. Imagine what else is out there!
Anyone else have a similar discovery?

And did you know that Blixa Bargeld, who founded the Einstürzende Neubauten also founded Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds together with Nick Cave? There's a beautiful connection between Berlin and Australia! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blixa_Bargeld

Wow that was interesting, and a cool connection cheers admin I've loved Nick Cave since the beginning which means I was only a step away from EN all this time!

Yikes I’m getting old. Their album “Halber Mensch” was my introduction to the industrial genre. Heard it when I was 16 and it blew me away. Around the same time I was introduced to Test Department. This definitely kindled my love for scraping sounds.

Halber mensch was also my first E.N. album. Have seen them live i Copenhagen several times, also when they had a jackhammer on stage and partly demolished the youth house in Copenhagen :-)

Hello, discovered in Italy in the 90s, actually a collective of musicians, some of whom built their own instruments. Pretty political, some iconic interpretations of workers' songs: Officine Schwartz

Discovered them 20 years ago when I was in my Industrial music period. Very, very interesting band. I really hope to see them live some time. My favourite albums are Haus Der Lüge and Ende Neu.

Seeing them live would be something special. I've been listening to Gijon, live concert from 2005 today neubauten.bandcamp.com/album/gijon-live-concert-from-2005Thanks for their other album tips and also for Test Department and Officine Shwartz! I listened to bits and both deserve further investigation. i'm going to enjoy tonight!

Ha, last week I spent like 3 days listening to Fünf auf der nach oben offenen Richterskala. It's such a great record. Haus der Lüge is another favorite, for that awesome grinding groove in the title track.
It's kinda like the grinding groove on Nick Cave's Mercy Seat, which I'm sure is not a coincidence...

After listening to a fair bit over the past few days I have noticed a few songs that have that Nick Cave feeling or rather now I'm thinking Nick Cave having the EN feeling. I agree with Haus der Luge, there is a lot of similarities in the music and even the vocals. There is a male female duet too that I swear could be a German version of 'Where the wild roses grow" with Nick and Kylie Minogue. Can't remember which of the tracks it was though.

I saw them back in the day at I think it was the Hackney Empire in London. They were awesome. I think one of the promoters had a sense of humour as they were supported by Showaddywaddy, who were a cheesey 70's teddy boy band, who'd had lots of hits in the glam rock era. The great thing was I believe the two bands did a cover version of each of their songs. Neubauten played Showaddywaddy's 'under the moon of love' and I believe Showaddywaddy attempted 'Sehnsucht'. Saw Blixa play with Nick Cave & the bad seeds at the Kentish Town Country Club (or whatever it's called now). What a lot of people never realised about the bad seeds is they were damn funky, with the added joy of Blixa's percussive guitar playing.

Maybe you meant this? Einstürzende Neubauten feat. Merek Becker - Stella Maris It's not a german version of 'Where the wild roses grow' but still a beautiful song
