Hi team. I've done that wonderful thing where you take time away from work pile synths in a corner of the lounge room and make sounds purely for pleasure. I got the delivery notice on my last order, and I've been planning a lovely four voice AE setup for a wee while to make portable, but for now I've got the little AE I have (a starter rack 1 with a LPG and a 4IO) and my sweet double MS-20 minis, which I ripped from their tiny-keyed homes and reboxed, with breakouts containing some of the mods that are doable with my fairly limited soldering abilities. Here's how it looks: Here's the first thing I've done: ..that video better embed or I'll be sad... First two lines are MS-20 mini, second two are AE, embracing the crackle. It's nice to write a thing, record it, touch it up a little and move on to the next one, I'm discovering.

Beautiful! And thanks for posting a picture of your setup too. Those MS-20 Minis and your breakout box in the middle look like a fun DIY project!

Very Nice indeed!

Ha, I don't think I've had someone call something I wrote beautiful before, it's a nice thing to hear. With the breakouts, they're actually two boxes, each running to a separate mini, so they can be split and used as an individual unit. Had the idea when I saw the stacked Mother 32's when they come out and my brain went "You should do that with the MS20, you like the filter more." So I did. Mostly because two MS20 minis cost about the same as one mother 32 in Australia on the second hand market. Hi team. Thanks. Glad to hear you liked it! Pressure's on now, haha!

It was a long-lost John Carpenter soundtrack to my ears. Nicely done

This is such a great track! And I also love the very effective and simple video effects, very mysterious Those MS-20s look like a lot of fun, have you tried interfacing them with the AE Modular?

Thanks spacedog and admin for your kind words. I definitely plan to run voltages between them, have no doubt it should all be safe with the 4I/O scaling stuff. Definitely want to see how the envelopes will transfer across as I've got the second EG coming out into the breakout boxes, who doesn't love a HADSR, ha. I just got into a hole trying to figure out a sequencer I can run four lanes of cv/gate into the portable AE system I'll have soon. I'd kill for a more expanded midi to cv module right now, there seems to be so many more options in the standalone sequencer market with enough outputs to suit my desires that run midi rather than CV, unless you go into eurorack, and I don't plan on doing that.

Keep the tracks coming!
That breathing LED is mesmerising.
Whereabouts in Oz are you? (from your Bunnings case suggestion elsewhere).
I'm in Sydney. Carston is near Bega in NSW.
cheers,
Rod.

I'm down in Melbourne. The closest I get to Either Bega or Sydney is Wagga, and that's maybe once a year, ha. I'll be writing more once I get my laptop back up and running. Mobile modular setup ahoy!

I've learned that "only someone from Wagga Wagga can call Wagga Wagga Wagga." Unfortunately I missed last year's Melbourne Synth Festival but if it's on again this year, I'll definitely come down for it! Otherwise maybe we can interest you to visit our South Coast Synth Festival on October 19th? First ever synth event here in the Bega Valley! I'm sure I can find someone to billet you over the weekend.

I am way tempted too but may have trouble selling the idea to my family. Wow! Bega is about the same distance from Melbourne as it is form Sydney. I'm definitely getting batteries organised so I can take my modular into the bush.

I'll have a search around and see if I can find my notes and chuck a post up tomorrow. If you're after a more in-depth look just let me know, I've been meaning to make a video and chuck it up on youtube for far too long, ha.

The inside edge measurements to have the front plates sit vertical are 480mm x 205mm. These are pretty rough, I wasn't exactly precise when I made these, and had to rely on my cuts being done at the place I bought the timber from. I'm now writing a script for an in-depth video, I'll post a link when it's done. Best place to start for the insides are here for getting the oscillators out and here for PWM, if you haven't seen them already.

Had some time on my hands again, it's only been, what, eight months?
Finally had a chance to chain the two delays I have together to make a pingpong out of them.
