Chuck Van Zyl played our AEther Waves album again this week on his Star's End show - in fact we even opened the show. Chuck also mentioned the modular format, so perhaps it will help push the product in the USA just that little bit more.

I actually still listen to all the songs of the album quite often. They get even better with time! I also tried to get some songs played on the ABC radio show that interviewed me last week, but the presenter didn't go for it ... he chose Frankie Goes to Hollywood instead! That was the very first time in the history of that station that someone brought a modular synthesizer into their studio and they just couldn't understand what was happening.

I guess that's what hapen with a lot of people in front of a modular. Especially with AEM as it has a more "rough" looking in my opinion.

Did you get to Patch & Tweak live on air...?

Chuck Van Zyl has just posted his Star's End Show "Significant Releases of 2019" list and I'm pleased to say that AEther Waves Vol. 1 is on there (under Various Artists, near the end). Yes, it's a long list, but were a lot of releases. So, if you haven't bought a copy yet, what are you thinking about...? I mean, it's significant release Seriously, well done to all involved. We also had airplay on his second round-up show of 2019, which was nice as well.

Hello, aetherwavers! I was wondering if it's about time for volume 2 already? We have new musicians here, as well as modules, so I thought that we could start another round.

Yeah, I’d be happy to contribute as well again. We would need volunteers for the following tasks:
- Collection of all WAV files & infos - Mastering - Bandcamp album art design
I would also propose new rules:
1. All sounds must be from the AE Modular, so no other synths or drum machines. Sampling, editing and arranging of AE Modular audio is allowed, of course.
2. External effects may be used, such as reverb, delay, EQ, compressor, etc.
3. Maximum length 5 Minutes
4. A photo of your AE Modular setup and a short text description of your workflow should be provided as well. Those would be added to your track information on Bandcamp.
What do you think? Also what would be a good deadline? 8 weeks from now?

Time is a funny thing.
It's been exactly a year today that this album was released, and it's that very same day I'm lurking back to the forum. I can remember how excited I was with the announcement of the AEther Wave vol.1. It was a first for me to be part of a nice community, sharing idea, projects and music and at that time it felt so nice. When the album was released it was pretty dark time for me, but I can perfectly remember how bad and ashamed I've felt when I've first heard the great tracks of members of this forum. How many time I wanted to ask to delet my track as I felt it was way to bad to be closed to such good creation from others. I felt so ashamed that I didn't feel like having the right to be here anymore so I left. Since then I've barely played any of my instruments out of shame and lack of musical knowledge.
Today, on this AEther Wave anniversary I'm back with way more confidence and maybe an once more of musical knowledge, but way more confidence and willingness to play music! It's good to be back for sure. Now tme to go through all new music that were posted here during my time out.
Happy one year Aether Waves vol. 1

Awesome that you’re back! Thanks a lot for your post! For you and all the others: this is not about showing that you’re a musical genius or anything. It’s about having fun and sharing your creations with this great community. We all have different tastes, experiences and goals and this is exactly why these compilations are so cool. It broadens all of our horizons and gives the listeners a meaningful cross section of what’s possible with the AE Modular. Personally, the whole modular synth experience was incredibly liberating for me. Before, I was stuck in dance music or specific genres, but I never totally enjoyed making those kinds of music myself. I felt that I lacked talent, endurance and even a vision. But making music was supposed to be a fun hobby and I didn’t want it to become “work”, so when I decided to try modular synths, a whole new world opened up to me. I never heard noise music, no-input crackles or ambient drones before, nor all that other stuff that wasn’t playing on the radio. It was fascinating! It was a place where anything goes and I just started to experiment without my previous, narrow-minded concepts of what “music” had to be and eventually found what I enjoyed. It was not mainstream and I couldn’t fill a big concert venue or even a small room, but it did click with a few people (it always does) and formed relationships and more and more wonderful experiences. And that’s what it - and this community - is all about I’m excited what we all will come up with for Aether Waves Vol. 2!

Happy one year Aether Waves vol. 1 Hi, great to have you back
I just re-listened to your track on Vol. 1 and it stands up well, in my opinion. Yes, we are all at different points on our personal learning curves, and with different velocities. Also, we like very different sounds, rhythms and styles of music. Having fun and being creative is what it's about here and whilst there are certainly members who have considerable expertise, I do feel that we have an accepting environment.
Jump back in and enjoy patching those small pins that make such a big difference.

Happy one year Aether Waves vol. 1 Hello moruial, I'm so sorry that you felt that way about the album and your work on it. The intent was and is to embrace all kinds of musical tastes and genres and offer anyone a choice to express themselves independent of their ability. You need to be aware that ours is a very niche community within a niche genre of a niche hobby Everyone here approaches their journey in a different way and we are all very supportive of each other's work, successes and struggles. It's good to hear that you are willing to come back and put your music out once more and I'm looking forward to your next track on Vol. 2!
