Definitely a showcase for the RAW POWER of a basic Starter System 2, controlled here by a ZAQuencer. Everything on the track except the drums + processing is the AE, all cut in one very noisy, bangin' pass, live-to-2. A propulsive minimal Detroit take on Robert's handiwork by Kevin Kennedy, aka FBK, aka The Sleep Engineer (albeit hosted for the time being on my SC).
Holy crap...!

This is awesome! Raw power from the drums and the AE fits in very well. Would love to hear more from your friend!

I do know that the times he's had it out live (twice so far, I think), people were mystified and terrified of the AE. It looks SOOOOOOOO unimposing...until Kevin grabs the tiny knobs and proceeds to demolish things and minds with it! There's a much longer take I have of a live set where the AE's being employed to generate this SOUND like a Roland TB-303 plugged directly into the 220 line! He told me that those sounds were making his LA (I think?) live crowd go utterly batshit insane.
Hainbach (on YouTube...another friend of mine due to our mutual appreciation of "improper" music gear) has this phrase: "will it music?" So if you modify that and ask of the AE "will it Detroit?"...the answer is clearly OH HELL YES!!!

Add some drums in the DAW, a ZAQuencer to drive the Starter 2, and some fairly basic processing...and start recording. Sadly, no video...but I'll see if I can bug him into getting some shot the next time The Fallen does a live gig.

Honestly, I think the only effect I added was a bit of reverb. The ONLY thing you're hearing is the starter rack, and drums from my Novation Circuit. I am absolutely overjoyed that you've taken the time to hear this piece...using it in my last live performance with James Johnson (as The Fallen)...it was INSANE to see how well it holds up against the wall of sound we create...I'll send you the live show we did and give you a gear list so you'll know:) The AE Modular is one of the most wonderful instruments I've used...and it works wonderfully live!

You can find more of my work on Bandcamp at absoloop(dot)bandcamp(dot)com and you can search most any digital market for FBK...there are a slew of vinyl releases as well...my last (first) album is called "More Stories From the Future" on the Rekids label out of Berlin.

Hey, you are totally allowed to post proper links to your bandcamp page Listening to some of it now... I would also love to see how you use the AE in a live setting ... I'm to play live in two weeks and since that's going to be my very first ever live performance I'm really nervous

Might be frightening to watch...Kevin was the one waving around my MS-20 at a live gig (back in the late 90s) like some traincar that Godzilla was about to hurl at a Tokyo office building whilst I was twiddling the knobs and looking positively deranged!

Thanks for that Kevin. Nice to hear the AE cut through like that. I'd never heard of the Zaquencer either, so that was fun to go googling as I listened to the track. I think that the perfect live performing sequencer has yet to be invented but I love the idea of flashing a whole new firmware into the Behringer BCR2000 as a way to do it.

This makes my 6th time of re-listening to your composition and each time I seem to find something more to like.
So I had to pop in to let you know. Makes me want to hear more from you

Jumpinjohnathon: Thank you for the kind words! If you are so inclined, you can find FBK in your favorite digital markets, or support me directly at absoloop.bandcamp.com where there are few of my works on there (I may add to this soon). I've been busy preparing for a slew of live performances in the beginning of 2020, and prepping some releases for the year also (crosses fingers). I'm getting a bit deeper into my AE kit, and highly considering buying the Kick, drum and Topograf for some fun... Again, I want to thank everyone for the kind words on my first real output with this fantastic system...there WILL be more to come!

If you're still considering doing so, I highly suggest you do...especially if you have a BCR2000 sitting around...I will caution you that the prices of these units seem to be going up on the used market...but still-a good investment for a 4 track, 32 step sequencer.
