Here I'm trying my hands for the first time on the ALGODRONE and SOLINA modules. As there are no instructions on how to use them (yet) I'm only using them probably in the most basic way.
I must say that ALGODRONE is full of wonders. What I most loved about my AE system from the start was that I could spend hours making super tiny turns on say a filter knob and get to hear new sounds. The ALGODRONE delivers on that exponentially. There's a lot of noisy chaos ... but just a tiny turn of one of the 3 parameters can turn it into a surprisingly clean rythmic melody. It will take years to map the sonic landscape of this module.
SOLINA is somewhat more LOFI than I thought, but still has nice soothing quality that fits well underneath the edgy harshness of the ALGODRONE. Together they are "The Beauty and the Beast"

Holy moly! Just started listening to the video. This is incredible and I forsee a lot of mellow, drony, ambient music with the AE Modular in the near future. Well done taming the Algodrone too in this track! How do you sequence the Solina here?

Thanks! No sequencing of the Solina, all manually played on my KeyStep A word of warning ... the SOLINA has its own mind of which notes or chords should be played and doesn't react well to every key on the keyboard. Maybe it only accepts the ones which are in the scale, I don't know yet. But with some experimentation you can find out which work and which don't. You can also sequence the SOLINA with a step sequencer where every gate or trigger just advances to a different chord in the scale but I wanted more control.

The note generation logic of the SOLINA needs definitely an explanation, it might not be totally intuitive. In short, the COARSE and FINE knobs set the basic pitch, the CHORD knob iterates through all chords of a major or minor scale (set by the switch) rooted at the basic pitch. The CHORD TYPE knob controls chord inversion (in the left half) and chord modifications like raised or lowered "3" of the chord or "fifths only" when fully clockwise.

That’s cool! So you could simply tune the frequency of the Solina to whatever root note your music piece is using, leave the pitch CV input unpatched and then sequence the module via the CHORD CV input with a regular SEQ16 CV sequencer, as this would generate the correct chords for the selected scale. This actually seems like a very useful and easy way to realize chords in a modular synth environment.

We're going to need more sequencers ! Luckily, more sequencers are in the works in the shape of the CV Bank and Feliquencer Simple CV & gate sequencers are also very easy to DIY.

Nice piece of music, must get my studio set up again, makes me want to play..... I think that is one of the reason I am trying to make my system as portable as possible. I can leave it stashed in a corner with a cover over it then quickly get it onto my bed and add speakers if I have no space elsewhere in the apartment.

The Solina and Algodrone are such opposite critters!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to hearing what you will be doing with the AE and those modules. I'm still listening to both your ARP 2600 and VCS3 albums and I'm so inspired by them.

I'm currently working on the "Moog Synthdrome" (Minimoog), but I'm already writing ideas for the "Langer (or Tangible Waves) Synthdrome". I hope to receive my AEM at the end of October (I can't wait to have it!).

Jihel, I've also really been enjoying the The Pearlman Synthdrome, great sounds and a terrific vintage feel. I also really enjoying tripping into your more experimental work I've not been listening as much as I would have liked recently, but this has been playing behind me whilst working.

Thank you Andy I listen everyday some Soviet music, mainly influenced by the Berlin School...
