I saw there is a sample player in development. So, will this module allow me to play whatever sample I come up with. Will I be able to record sequences, then play them back via the sample player?

The sample player will be able to play samples as WAV file from a micro-SD card, with 1V/octave pitch control, setting loop points and different loop modes. No audio recording in the module, only playback for this one.

Hi Robert
After much research I'm about ready to get started with AE. This particular module appeals very much to me. Appreciate these are not exactly business as usual times but do you have an idea as to when it might be released?
Thanks
Paul

Thanks Paul I have learned I have to be careful with estimations about release dates ;-) because things always take longer than expected... But let's try anyway: With finishing the development, prototyping and production time it could be ready until july/august - fingers crossed...

A sample player would be very interesting.I use the MicrGranny a lot by mixing in and processing the samples with my system. Its also a nice way of integrating and processing my field recordings - taking a recording from the micro SD (and adapter) from my Zoom H5 and plugging it directly into the AEM is a good starting point for me.

What we are working on is a very basic sample player with (AE paradigm) a very low price. It will be based on a 8-bit Atmel processor (presumably the Atmega1284) and PWM audio output. With the experiences from this one it is planned to work after this on a more feature-rich version with a more powerful 32bit processor, true 16bit DAC... But first we want to squeeze the maximum out of the minimum hardware - AE paradigm again ;-)

Oooo...plus, that 8-bit depth will mean that the sample player ALSO can function as something of a "lo-fi-er". Might it be possible to also sneak a bit-crush capability into the module?
