Hello everyone, World Drone Day is on this Saturday and I'm wondering if anyone is keen to do something for it? droneday.org/index.htmlMy idea is to just start a YouTube Stream where I'll slowly build a drone from scratch on my AE Modular and other gear and then just let it run for a couple of hours with slight adjustments here and there. If more people would stream and publish their stream URLs here then we can meet and pop in and out of each other's streams as the day goes on. The new Discord chat server could also play a great role in bringing people together. Another option would be for people to create drone recordings and upload to Soundcloud with a common hashtag, eg. #aemodulardroneday2020 Any thoughts?

Ah! I didn’t realise that it had come around again I’ve done performances for drone day in previous years, so it might be fun to do something this year too. Not sure what the right platform would be (I’ve done some live-streams to YouTube and twitch, either would probably work). It might be nice to have a single stream into which we could all contribute; so that performances cross-faded? But that would involve a fair bit of organisation (and I don’t know what platform might support that). Definitely interested in doing ‘something’

It might be nice to have a single stream into which we could all contribute; so that performances cross-faded? But that would involve a fair bit of organisation (and I don’t know what platform might support that). Zoom might be the platform that could allow for people to share their drones. It's a bit tricky to get the audio to mix between microphone and synth. I'm mixing outside the PC and feed it back in via audio interface so that works for me, others might not have that setup (you need a condenser microphone hooked up to your mixer). Our Synthclub met online via Zoom and we did manage a jam, so it's not impossible, but it does need some work and would be beyond me to organise this for Saturday. If someone else would like to look into it, please let me know! I've spent some time today fiddling with OBS, YouTube streaming and two mobile phones to create a live streaming setup. It's working fabulously, but it was a lot of work getting it all to work! I'm planning to go online with my first ever live stream on YouTube and will patch a drone from scratch every hour for a few hours so if you come across my channel then please chat with me. And maybe that's how drone day could develop, a communal channel hopping, possibly assisted by either a set list (post your online schedule here in this thread and I'll accumulate it on a wiki page for example) or in real time via Discord.

I never knew about this! I’ll work on something. A live stream sounds fun. I’ll think about what that might look like for me!

OK! Going live in under 30 minutes!
I'll be live streaming for 6 hour straight! The drone is going but I'll be adding, tweaking and chatting with you, please say hello!
Gear used:
- AE Modular - Synthstrom Deluge - Korg Wavestate - Korg Volca FM
- 3 mobile phones with ivCam - OBS on Windows
This is my first ever live stream and if this works out OK, I'll do more of these, especially if people are interested to "hear what a module sounds like".
Please post links if you're also doing a Drone Day performance!

nicely done admin, and thanks for inspiring me to give it a go. a spontaneous decision, so chuck phone on to tripod, fire up synths off we go - nice to give the AE another outing too amazing, to see you can stream to youtube directly over wifi with a phone so easily... I think next time, I'll see if i can get OBS working on the laptop... though perhaps that will bring more complications?

My project is live! It will be running all day. It takes messages from the live chat and turns them into notes. So you literally get to play my AE Modular!

Here’s my effort — I was just watching tv and thought that there’s probably more interesting things to do, so here it is! Unannounced, but you can relive the ‘action’ here: (Audio starts at 1’20”, performance around 4’50”) I used 4 cheap GoPro clones and the laptops built in camera, audio from the headphone of my mixer into the laptop. OBS doing a random scene-switch every 15 seconds Laptop fans were running 100% all the time (but it’s a 2012 MacBook Pro, so perhaps unsurprising!)

I have a drone ready, but couldn't get on the water to film the rest of the story I want to tell.

Well done everyone! I'm glad we had a few drones up and did our part for World Drone Day! I'm super impressed with the installations that slowscape and rodney put up ... fully automated interactive drone machines! Also good to see thetechnobear in the studio, sorry I had to leave early, but I was buggered after my session. HUGE thanks to NightMachines for offering his Bandcamp discographie for such an amazing price ... I admit that I snuffled it up straight away! And now I'm super jealous of namke for making it work with so many cameras! I think I have to upgrade to a faster PC to make this work! And for everyone who couldn't manage a drone yesterday (still today for some of you) ... I think Drone Day can be any day! Never stop experimenting, don't stop the music!

Yes, thank you all.
I listened in on a some of the drones presented here a few times over the day , did not have to much time, but what i heard was delicious.
next year i will try to stream some as well.
Still waiting for my audiointerface that was out of stock, and my AE order.
